Dinner Speech: The USA — Trump and the Opposition
We are delighted to invite you to an American Club dinner speech with MdB Metin Hakverdi. A light meal and wine will be included in the price.
In a Quinnipiac University poll released today, registered voters overwhelmingly stated 54% to 38% that they would support Joe Biden over Donald Trump. Bernie Sanders led 53% to 39%, Elizabeth Warren 52% to 40%, Harris 51% to 40% and Pete Buttigieg 49% to Trump’s 40%. The election is still a year away, yet does the opposition really stand a chance? Our guest speaker will address this question and shed some light on the mood in the United States.
MdB Metin Hakverdi just returned from a 6 week information-gathering visit to the USA. He traveled through many states and met with numerous Presidential candidates, including Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, Julián Castro and Beto O’Rourke. As a member of the German-American Parliamentary group of the Bundestag, he is excited to share his insightful impressions of the United States with The American Club.
Since 2013, Metin Hakverdi has been a Minister of the German Bundestag, succeeding Hans-Ulrich Klose, securing the direct candidate vote in Hamburg’s 23 district. He studied law in Germany and the USA, and began his career by establishing a law practice in Hamburg, practicing as a defense attorney. He is a member of several committees in the Bundestag: Ausschuss für die Angelegenheiten der Europäischen Union, Finanzausschusses and Haushaltsausschuss. Ever since graduating from High School in California, Metin has maintained a strong connection with the United States.
Looking forward to seeing you at this exciting event!
