WELT Reporter-in-Chief Robin Alexander spoke at American Club

Robin Alexander with Club-President David Zeller

The American Club of Hamburg proudly hosted Robin Alexander on Thursday at the Park Hyatt to a sold out house. The topic of the speech was the The US Midterm Elections: Implications for Trump and Merkel. Since Merkel’s announcement on Monday that she would not seek a further term as Chancellor, the timing of having the preeminent Merkel expert address 80 members and guests of the American Club couldn’t have been better. The guest speaker assured the audience that the Transatlantic Relationship will remain strong, regardless of who will succeed Merkel.
Club President, David Scott Zeller gave an outlook on the coming US Midterm Elections, which take place next Tuesday. Attendees enjoyed the lively discussions during a 3-course dinner and many went home with a signed copy of Mr. Alexander’s book “Die Getriebenen — Merkel und die Flüchtlingspolitik: Report aus dem Innern der Macht,” which reached the top of the Spiegel bestseller list last year.
Robin Alexander was the founding editor of Vanity Fair in Germany, and in 2008 became a journalist for Die Welt and Welt am Sonntag. He appears regularly on TV talk shows hosted by Anne Will, Sandra Maischberger and Maybrit Illner, due to his high level of expertise on national politics and topics relating to Chancellor Merkel.
