President Trump has been impeached for an unprecedented second time, and the trial heads to the Senate, currently slated for February 8. The Democrats and several Republicans in the House and Senate deem it important to prosecute the impeachment, due to Trump’s role in the insurgency at the US Capitol on June 6, disqualifying him from ever running for office again. Others argue that such proceedings will further divide the country and distract Biden from priority themes during his first hundred days in office.
